A video has emerged showing students of Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti being forced to cut their long braids before being allowed to write their examinations.
Students who were dressed in accordance with the school’s code of ethics were subjected to cutting their hair short by some women using scissors, while others sat in their respective halls awaiting their exams.
The video indicates that the incident took place during exam week. This video has generated massive reactions from Nigerians on social media.
While some have condemned the actions of the school authorities, others have questioned the students’ decision to violate the school’s rules.
Here are some reactions.
mazitundeednut: Them suppose to don stop this rubb!sh. This is a university, not secondary school. These are adults.
Wait, so if them cut the hair now, what does that do? I don’t get it. There should be freedom even in Universities.

jojomagbisa1: hey know the school rules why make such heavy and lengthy hair
oseyifunmii: With all sense of reference, every institution has their rules and regulations. Students are aware of the school DOs and DONT, you can’t tell me that just happened. If you can’t abide with a school law, DONT go!
Regardless of opinions on this case, we all know it’s a private university and there are certain things that are not allowed. Even in your homes, there are rules!
mrlaycharge: After all these stress. NO JOB after school.
icetillz: Abide by the school rules and regulations or leave
thecameraboss: Serious abuse of human dignity…. Can’t this university be sued
