The Defence Headquarters of the Nigerian Army has urged the public to disregard reports(Not by MyNigeria) that terrorist kingpin, Bello Turji, has been arrested.
According to the Director of Defence Media Operations of the Armed Forces, General Edward Buba, "All news regarding the arrest of Bello Turji by troops should be treated as fake news, please."
Meanwhile, the military has been making gains in its effort to neutralize Turji and his men who have been wreaking havoc in the northern part of Nigeria.
Multiple reports have it that Turji is currently running for his life as Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma said it had killed scores of terrorists, including the son of the wanted terror kingpin during a raid in Zamfara.
“The terrorist leader, Bello Turji, in a gross cowardly act escaped abandoning his son and combatants,” Buba said in a statement.
He added that "Troops also inflicted terminal injuries on some of Bello Turji’s close allies namely: Dosso (Bello Turji’s younger brother) and Danbokolo (one of Turji’s closest allies)."
In another campaign against terrorism in the north, a terrorist kingpin camp known as Idi Mallam was destroyed by troops along Zango Kagara Forest.
Three terrorists were killed in the process while troops arrested three suspected collaborators.
“Furthermore, troops recovered two machine guns, one AK47 Rifle with a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition. Additionally, 61 rustled cattle, and 44 sheep were rescued among other sundry items.
“Troops are sustaining the onslaught against the terrorist. Overall, troops continue to demonstrate commitment to the safety and protection of all citizens across the country,” the statement added.
