The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revealed that Air Peace Airlines compensated 220 passengers in November 2024.

The Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs, NCAA, Michael Ahcimugu, shared the list of the passengers who were compensated by the airline for disruptions in flight plans.

The NCAA had in December 2024 revealed that the Chairman of Air Peace Airlines, Allen Onyema, publicly accepted the enforcement actions initiated by the agency against his airline.

Onyema stated that he witnessed some of the infractions by his staff and cautioned them to comply with the NCAA by ensuring that refunds were paid within the stipulated timeframe per Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.

"I am glad that this has happened. I have warned my team. This shows that the NCAA know what they are doing. I will always acknowledge it where the fault is ours," he said.

The NCAA also revealed that after a stakeholder meeting with domestic operators chaired by the DGCA, Capt. Chris Najomo, an international operator, Ethiopian Airlines, expressed readiness to comply with its regulations going forward.

This is the first time in over a decade that the NCAA Consumer Protection Department has initiated sanctions against airlines.

Najomo advised operators to trim their schedules to sectors they can manage, just as he warned that enforcement actions will become sterner.

At the meeting which was held on the heels of rising passenger complaints about flight disruptions, Najomo made it clear that unruly passenger behaviour will not be tolerated going forward.
