Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad has raised concerns over the silence of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, on the killing of an EFCC officer in his home state of Anambra.
On Friday, January 17, reports indicated that an officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was shot dead during a night raid in Anambra State.
It was discovered that another officer sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
This incident sparked concerns, many voiced their opinions. Bashir Ahmad also joined several others in sharing his thoughts about the incident.
In a post shared on his social media page, Ahmad questioned the silence of Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State, regarding the tragic event. He wondered why Obi has yet to condemn the act of a resident of his home state while being quick to speak about other unrelated issues.
Ahmad expressed his disappointment, saying, “I expected Peter Obi to surprise us by extending his condolences to the EFCC and the family of Aminu Sahabi, who was brutally murdered, while carrying out his official duties, by a suspected internet fraudster, Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu. I had assumed he would have strongly condemned the brutal killing, especially since the incident occurred in his state, Anambra.”
The post attracted various comments from Nigerians on social media.

@anasbello142526: If Peter doesn't make condolences to the family of Aminu Salisu, what will happen to them. I mean nothing. The family of Aminu Saliisu their eyes were with FG, who had the power to do what is right.
@lollybwoy: I expected ATIKU to surprise us by extending his condolences to the family of Deborah who was brutally murdered and set ablaze while studying in the university by suspected Muslim extremists. I had assumed he would have strongly condemned the brutal killing.
@HiikyaaTor: What of T Pain?
@kennizglobal: Wow. Finally you've come to accept the fact that @PeterObi is now the commander in chief. Keep hoping and expecting.
@waheedakin32492: Sir if you are expecting peter to talk which means you don't know Peter
@echoeofself: You expect too much for someone who doesn't give back the same energy he expects.
What did you say when Deborah was murdered up north?
I expected you to condemn it, too.
@Qladele: You go wait, taya, if you expect Peter Obi to comment on the incident that happened in Anambra, the location of the incident will not allow him to comment.
