Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has expressed concern about the increasing number of deaths in the country.
In a post shared on his social media page, Gwamnishu mentioned that mortuaries are now struggling to find space to store dead bodies due to the high mortality rate.
He made this known while recounting his experience of trying to find a place to deposit the body of a young girl named Lucy, who was murdered in her home in Asaba Delta State.
According to the activist, every mortuary they visited was already at full capacity.
He wrote, “While looking for mortuary to deposit Lucy, the young girl was k! Illed in her room, we drove to specialist hospital Asaba and were told that the mortuary is filled up (NO SPACE). Same at FMC Asaba, we were told their mortuary collapsed. The rate People are dying daily is alarming.”
