The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has ordered soldiers across the country to strengthen their fight against criminals.
Speaking during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Social and Award Evening for Soldiers in Abuja on Sunday, January 12, 2025, Musa urged the troops to ensure they neutralize all threats wherever they are found.
Musa emphasized the importance of a proactive approach to security, stressing that 2025 must mark a turning point in the military’s operations against insecurity.
He called on commanders to lead the charge in creating significant progress in counter-terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges.
“We are not where we want to be, but we’re heading there, and I can assure you that by working together, we shall overcome all acts of evil.
“Our task is to look for the bad guys and take them down. We must step out of the temple, look for the criminals wherever they enter, and go after them.”
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, reiterated the military’s vital role in maintaining peace and stability, urging troops to remain loyal and resolute in their service to the nation.
“We must go wherever duty calls—by land, sea, or air,” Oluyede stated. “Our commitment to combating terrorism, insurgency, secessionism, and other threats to national unity must remain unwavering.”
The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, reassured Navy personnel of the leadership’s commitment to their welfare and operational readiness.
He also announced plans to acquire new assets and enhance surveillance capabilities to boost efficiency and morale.
“We are continually refining our operations, introducing advanced assets, and upgrading surveillance to support our personnel in overcoming challenges,” Ogalla said.
The Chief of the Air Force (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, represented by the Chief of Administration, AVM Idi Sani, commended the troops for their resilience and dedication.
He stressed that the military’s duties extend beyond defending territorial borders to fostering unity and national progress.
“Despite the evolving security landscape, your steadfast commitment ensures our nation’s strength and stability,” Abubakar noted.
