The president of the African Development Bank (ADB), Akinwumi Adesina has stated that Nigeria has attracted $7.6 billion in investment interests at the Africa Investment Forum 2024.
The event took place between December 4 and December 6, 2024 in Rabat, Morocco.
Adesina said this in a statement on his official X platform during the weekend.
He was optimistic about the positive impact of investment interests, not highlighting the participation of several Nigerian state governors at the forum.
Adesina wrote: “I am delighted the Africa Investment Forum 2024 mobilised $7.6bn of investment interest for Nigeria.
"It was great to have several state governors: Lagos, Kaduna, Kastina, Kwara, and Plateau, and (later) Ogun.
"We will keep working to support & boost investments in Nigeria.”
The forum facilitated $29.2 billion in total investment interests for many projects on the African continent - and it covers energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and technology sectors.
Recall that in December 2024, Wale Edun, Nigeria’s finance minister, stated that Nigeria needs a yearly investment of $20 billion to achieve its $1 trillion economy target by 2030.
