The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Shehu Gabam, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration may not survive the 2027 election.

Gabam pointed out that previous leaders who encountered economic issues within the first two years of their tenure never made it to a second term.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday, January 9, 2025, Gabam recounted how former President Goodluck Jonathan failed because opposition started in his second year.

According to Gabam, "No president that was elected to serve four years and has issues in two years can survive.

“Jonathan’s opposition started within two years – he lost election.”

The SDP chairman criticized the capabilities of the ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet, stressing that they are unable to push the president’s vision forward.

Sharing his thoughts on the economic instability that has negatively affected the citizens, Gabam noted that Nigeria has never faced the economic hardship they are experiencing today.
