President Bola Tinubu arrived in Ghana on Monday, January 6, to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect John Mahama, scheduled for Tuesday at Black Stars Square in Accra.
The event will see many distinguished personalities from Nigeria and around the world in attendance.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, former President Goodluck Jonathan, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, and his wife Yemisi also arrived in Ghana at the invitation of incoming President Mahama.
John Mahama is set to become the first Ghanaian president to make a comeback after being ousted from office following his first term.
He won the 2024 presidential election by defeating his closest contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, with 56.55% of the total votes.
This inauguration also marks a historic moment as Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang becomes the first female vice president of Ghana.
