The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that the former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, cannot kill him.

Wike accused Odili of disobeying President Bola Tinubu on the affairs of the Rivers peace deal, amidst the ongoing rift with Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State.

Speaking about the recent feud involving Odili, Fubara and himself, at a New Year luncheon he hosted at his country home in Obio-Akpor on Friday, January 3, 2024, Wike dismissed calls by some Rivers State elders for him to apologize to Odili over his recent comments.

Wike insists he had done nothing wrong and vowed to resist being bullied by anyone.

Recall that Odili publicly declared support for Fubara, stating that the Rivers governor prevented Wike from using the state as his personal estate.

“It is now over 12 months, since the 25th October 2023, when a fierce existential fight, though unnecessary, was waged against Governor Fubara over the soul of Rivers State.

“With assuring fortitude, Governor Fubara confronted the challenge, prevented the quest by one man to capture the State as a private estate, emancipated Rivers people, steadied governance and made civil servants and Rivers people happier as it used to be until he left office in 2007,” Odili said.

In response, Wike dismissed the allegations of having a personal interest in Rivers State, adding that the former governor was forgotten until he rescued him.

“I never said so. I paid money for Rivers people to be medical doctors. I am trying to make Rivers State the medical hub of South-South Nigeria. How did I now come to convert Rivers State into a personal estate?

“I am the best governor that Rivers State has ever produced. How did I convert Rivers State as my personal estate? And people will not answer simple question,” Wike stated.
