A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jesutega Onokpasa, has expressed disappointment in President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies that have left many Nigerians hungry amid hardship.

Onokpasa stated that Tinubu promised to provide food massively to feed the masses if elected; however, he has created intense hunger in the land and caused food prices to skyrocket.

During an interview on Arise Television with Dr. Reuben Abati, Onokpasa lamented the failure of President Tinubu to fulfil his promise, which has left him embarrassed.

The chieftain bemoaned the president’s inability to invest heavily in agriculture. As a result, Onokapsa has questioned Tinubu’s capability as a leader.

“Why does this topic of hunger embarrass me? This is not the plan. What Asiwaju promised us is that if we help him get to power, he is going to produce food massively to feed Nigerians. We didn’t envisage this bizarre comfortability with prices just skyrocketing out of control. I don’t know what happened to Asiwaju, seriously.

In fact, I have taken to be booking masses for him; whatever is happening to him, let God deliver him from it. I don’t understand it.

How can you, as president, let prices skyrocket? If we can’t reduce the price of fuel, can’t we feed people? Our brother Aliko built his refinery for about five years or seven years. That’s how long it can take to attain a milestone.

Do you know how long it takes to grow crops? Sometimes as low as three months, six months, one year. You start harvesting and feeding people. Why is Asiwaju so reluctant to invest massively in agriculture? Let us reduce the price of food first; let our people see food to eat,” Onakpasa, a staunch supporter of Tinubu, said.
