Lagos State Lagos State

The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 6am to 3pm.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made this known on Monday, explaining that the diversion of vehicles is necessary to facilitate the Christmas Youth Parade in the area.

Osiyemi appealed to motorists to exercise caution and adhere to all traffic signs to avoid congestion on the road.

"Road users are advised to use the following alternative routes: Motorists heading to Eko Hotel Roundabout from VCP Hotel will be diverted to Jubril Martins Street, then turn right onto Muri Okunola Street. They will then connect to Ligali Ayorinde Street, proceed to Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, and continue to Tokunbo Ademola Street to reach their destinations.

Traffic from Ligali Ayorinde Street heading to Eko Hotel Roundabout will be diverted to Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, then to Adetokunbo Ademola Street to continue towards their destinations.

Motorists coming from Eko Hotel Roundabout toward Ajose Adeogun Street will be diverted to Adetokunbo Ademola Street, then right onto Bishop Aboyade Cole Street. They will proceed to Muri Okunola Street, connect to Jubril Martins Street, and then return to Ajose Adeogun Street for their destinations."

He urged motorists to exercise patience during the diversion and assured that security officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be on the roads to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of all road users.

“This road diversion is part of our traffic management plan for the 2024 Youth Christmas Parade on Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island,” Osiyemi said.
