Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has established himself as a mainstay in the Galatasaray attack since joining the Super Lig title holders in early September.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year has registered nine goals and five assists in 12 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray since joining the club from Napoli.

Osimhen started the season partnering with Argentine international Mauro Icardi upfront, forming a lethal force in attack.

However, Icardi, who was Galatasaray's top scorer, has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign due to injury.

The former Inter Milan striker has now been replaced by Michy Batshuayi in attack, with the Belgian international partnering with Osimhen upfront.

Turkish TV commentator Oğuz Altay believes that Mauro Icardi is a better attacking partner for Osimhen than Batshuayi. He described the difference between Icardi and Batshuayi as clear as light and day.

"Osimhen and Icardi playing as centre forwards and Osimhen and Batshuayi playing as centre forwards are as different as night and day," Altay said.

Galatasaray were held to a 2-2 draw at home against Eyüpspor in their last league game on Sunday, December 1.

Despite dropping two points, Okan Buruk's side remains at the top of the league standings, six points ahead of Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce side.
