Despite having secured qualification for the 2025 AFCON, Super Eagles skipper William Troost-Ekong says the team will approach their last qualifier encounter with all seriousness.
Nigeria will face Rwanda on Tuesday, November 19, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo as the three-time African champions look to wrap up an impressive qualifying campaign.
The result in that fixture could impact the remaining teams in the group who are aiming to secure the second-place spot behind Nigeria.
Libya will need a convincing win by at least a four-goal margin against Benin at home to secure the second-place spot.
Benin Republic, coached by former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, on the other hand, needs one point and a win by Nigeria to also secure qualification.
Rwanda also faces a daunting prospect, needing either a victory or a draw away against Nigeria to book their spot, depending on the result of the other game.
Al Khalood defender Troost-Ekong has disclosed that Nigeria will be professional and not play to favor any other team vying for qualification.
"We [Super Eagles] won’t do favors for any team with our game against Rwanda because it’s very unprofessional to even think of doing any team a favor," Troost-Ekong said in a pre-match press conference.
"I am not sure any other team will do us such favors if we need one. So, we will approach tomorrow’s game with all the seriousness it deserves,” he added.
