Popular activist Deji Adeyanju has criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the defeat of US Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Adeyanju, who has been critical of key institutions in Nigeria, posted on X calling on INEC to save Harris from her defeat.
"INEC can still save Kamala. What INEC cannot do does not exist. They can switch off the server or change results on IREV," he wrote in a tweet.
President Donald Trump emerged victorious in a highly contested election, winning 276 electoral college votes to Harris' 223.
Despite being endorsed by several celebrities and notable organizations, she couldn't stop Trump's momentum as he won key battleground states.
While Adeyanju’s statement is sarcastic in tone, it’s important to note that INEC’s jurisdiction is limited to Nigeria, and it’s unclear how they could potentially influence the outcome of the US election.
The US election process is governed by its own electoral laws and institutions.
