Popular on-air personality, Rufai Oseni has applauded Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his swift intervention on the floor after a senator commended Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu for her beauty on the floor.
During her screening, Senator Osita Ngwu who represents Enugu West in the 10th National Assembly, expressed interest in speaking and began by complimenting Ojukwu’s appearance, prompting reactions from fellow senators.
“Mr. President, the beautiful nominee before us today is…,” Ngwu said, but Akpabio quickly interrupted, stating, “Stick to the resume. She didn’t include ‘beautiful’ in her CV.” This remark drew laughter from the assembly.
However, reacting, Oseni wondered if a lawmaker should talk about the beauty of a ministerial nominee during serious government business.
"How can a Nigerian lawmaker be talking about a beautiful nominee at a ministerial screening, How did these ones become lawmakers in Nigeria? Kudos to Akpabio for shutting the comment on the beautiful nominee down," he wrote in a post on X.
The nominees who were screened on Wednesday, October 30 include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Ph.D.
