Akua Donkor, a presidential candidate in the upcoming election in Ghana has died, according to GhanaWeb.

Donkor passed away in the evening on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Ridge Hospital while undergoing treatment for an unspecified health condition.

As the founder and flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party, she was 72 years old at the time of her death.

Donkor had contested the last two elections in Ghana and was actively preparing and campaigning for the December 7 polls, which are just 39 days away.

She had promised free vehicles for journalists, duty-free port services for the clearance of goods, free education, proper remuneration for farmers, and other policies she aimed to implement if she won the 2024 elections.

She was placed third on the ballot.
