The former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has alleged that former head of state, Olusegun Obasanjo, is responsible for the defeat of Biafra.

He claimed that despite his actions leading to the death of millions of Igbos during the civil war, Igbos love Obasanjo.

He slammed the supporters of Peter Obi, popularly known as Obidients, for loving Obasanjo because he supported their candidate during the 2023 election but hating General Yakubu Gowon.

In a post shared on his X page, Omorki shared an old newspaper with the image of Gowon and Obasanjo with the headline, “Owerri is now captured.” Captioning his post, he wrote, “The man who actually defeated Biafra was Colonel Olusegun Obasanjo. Yet, Obidients love Obasanjo because he supported Peter Obi, but hate General Gowon!”

His comment comes as Nigerians berated Peter Obi for celebrating Gowon's 90th birthday with a heartfelt message.

Many who were displeased with Obi’s message to Gowon took to social media to tackle him for supporting the General responsible for the genocide that claimed over one million Igbos during the war between Biafra and Nigeria.
