Israel, Iran war: Presidency announces evacuation plans for Nigerians living in Lebanon

The Nigerian presidency has announced plans to evacuate Nigerians living in Lebanon as a result of the escalating Israel, Iran war.

Nigerians are urged to report to the Nigerian mission in the East African country for profiling, documentation and evacuation.

The decision to evacuate follows Iran’s missile attack on Israel in response to previous attacks, including one in April, where over 300 drones and missiles were launched towards Israel.

In retaliation, Israel killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on Friday, September 27, prompting Iran to launch additional missile strikes on Israel on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, the Nigerian presidency is urging the evacuation of Nigerian citizens in Lebanon.

President Bola Tinubu's special adviser on social media, Dada Olusegun, shared the announcement on social media, stating that all Nigerians in Lebanon should contact the Nigerian mission for profiling, documentation, and subsequent evacuation.

The tweet reads: "Alert! All Nigerians in Lebanon are expected to get in touch with the Nigerian mission for profiling and documentation and subsequent evacuation."
