Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claims the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has infiltrated the party's leadership under the current leadership of the acting National Chairman, IIiya Umar Damagun.

Melaye, a former governorship aspirant made the claims after the conclusion of the Edo election in which Monday Okepbholo of the APC was declared the winner.

In a post on X, he said the just-concluded election in Edo State shows that Damagun would destroy the party.

According to Melaye: “With the destroyer called Damagun on the wheels, PDP is in the departure lounge waiting for the boarding pass.

“Edo experience will be a joke, there are more APC in the NWC than PDP.”

Asue Ighodalo, the PDP’s governorship candidate lost the election polling 247,274 votes.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta declared Monday Okpebholo of the APC winner of the election after garnering 291,667 votes.

Meanwhile, Melaye had previously accused Damagum of attempting to destroy the former ruling party.

Melaye said the PDP founding fathers like Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Chiroma, Tony Anenih, and Abubakar Rimi would be turning in their graves over Damagum’s leadership style.
