The video of African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina dancing at the 60th anniversary of the bank sparked widespread reactions on social media.

Adesina, in the viral video, was seen dancing with some members of the Board of Directors at the event held in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire from September 9 to 10.

The event, themed "60 Years of Making a Difference," aimed to showcase the Bank's journey since its establishment on September 10, 1964, and its vision for the continent's future.

The first day of the event featured traditional music and cultural performances, discussions on the Bank's institutional impact, an exhibition, a seminar with community stakeholders (including students, young innovators and entrepreneurs, and civil society), and a Staff Council Symposium.

The main events on September 10 highlighted the Bank's key milestones and impact on Africa's economic development over the past six decades.

A Youth Community of Practice (Y-CoP) and an Intergenerational Dialogue on Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development in Africa were also launched on the day.

The Y-COP is a new knowledge hub platform for youth from Africa and the rest of the world to engage in critical thinking and peer-to-peer learning while identifying evidence-based youth solutions to build resilient and sustainable growth in Africa.

Sharing the video on his X handle, he wrote: "Congratulations African Development Bank@60! Dancing with members of my Board of Directors, as we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the African Development Bank Group. @AfDB_Group"
