The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for the immediate reduction of the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol nationwide.

The labor union made this known in a post on its official X handle on Tuesday, September 3.

“We demand the immediate reversal of the latest increase in the pump of PMS across the country,” the post reads.

Earlier, the group disclosed it was betrayed by President Bola Tinubu after the latest increase by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL from N617 to N897 per litre.

According to NLC president, Comrade Joe Ajaero and the other labor unions accepted the N70,000 minimum wage because there was an understanding that there would be no further increase in the price of fuel.

Ajaero threatened that in the coming days, the appropriate organs of Congress will be meeting to make appropriate decisions which will be made public.

Following weeks of intensive negotiations and strikes by organised labor, the federal government, private sector, and other stakeholders agreed on 70,000 naira as the minimum wage which will be reviewed every three years.
