The government of President Bola Tinubu has reportedly spent N366 million on bulletproof tyres as revealed by SaharaReporters.

A review of the Govspend public payments portal showed that the funds were paid on May 21, 2024, June 22, 2023, and June 24, 2023.

According to the report, there was a single-day expenditure of N42.8 million on June 22, 2023, for State House tyres. Another sum of N86.2 million was spent to purchase tyres on June 24, with the description reading ‘Purchase for Tyres to State House’.

It was indicated that two payments were registered on May 21, 2024. The Presidency spent N38 million on the supply of five (5) nos S600/222 armoured/bulletproof tyres (255-720-r490ac).

Additionally, the sum of N200.5 million was paid for the supply of tyres for bullet proof vehicles to State House, Abuja.

In total, the Presidency was recorded to have spent N366 million in three days on the purchase of tyres, as stated on the Govspend platform.

These transactions have caused a stir, with many Nigerians expressing their dissatisfaction at the manner in which the presidency spends funds on irrelevant items amid revenue shortages and a rising debt crisis.
