Former Super Eagles and Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has named Didier Drogba as the best African Player in the history of the Premier League, placing him ahead of Liverpool's Mohammed Salah.
A flurry of talents from Africa have graced the English topflight since its rebranding to English Premier League (EPL) in 1992.
Despite the array of African stars who have left their mark in the Premier League, Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba and Egypt's Mohammed Salah are the two stars whose performances have particularly stood out.
Fans have consistently debated who among these two is the greatest African star in the EPL history.
Aiyegbeni, who scored over 100 Premier League goals during his spells with Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton and Blackburn Rovers believes the former Chelsea striker was exceptional.
"You cannot say Salah is the greatest African player to play in the Premier League. Drogba was something special; he was scoring for fun," Ayegbeni said as quoted by ESPN Africa.
As per Premier League stats, Didier Drogba registered 104 goals and 55 assists in 254 EPL appearances for the Blues.
Salah on the other hand, has so far managed 159 goals and 70 assists plus three Golden Boots awards in 265 EPL outings for the Reds.
