NFF to hand 40-man squad list to new Super Eagles head coach for Benin, Rwanda AFCON qualifiers

Newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Bruno Labadia is set to receive a 40-man list from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ahead of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

According to reports, the list has already been submitted to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to meet the deadline.

Labbadia, 58, on Tuesday, August 27, was announced as the new head coach to replace Finidi George who resigned from the role in June after just two matches in charge of the team.

The former Bayern Munich striker has become the sixth German to lead the Super Eagles after Karl-Heinz Marotzke, Gottlieb Göller, Manfred Höner , Berti Vogts and Gernot Rohr.

The former Wolfsburg manager's first assignment is to trim the list down to 23 players for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

Nigeria will take on Benin Republic on Saturday, September 7 at home in Uyo, before travelling to Kigali to face Rwanda in their next encounter on Tuesday, September 10.
