Social commentator and former investigative journalist known on X (formerly Twitter) as PidomNigeria, has reportedly gone missing.
This was announced via his X account by his colleague investigative journalist, David Hundeyin. In a post shared on Friday, August 23, 2024, Hundeyin stated that he has control of PIDOM’s account and announced an SOS alert over his disappearance.
He wrote, “SOS Alert: PIDOM Nigeria is missing, (and I think we may know who has him). Nigeria’s best known anonymous insurgent whistleblower has gone missing and his social media accounts have been compromised. Here’s what I know.”
Pidom’s disappearance comes days after he planned to leak a document on how some unnamed individuals shared the "cake,” as he termed it.
According to his last post shared on his social media page on August 15, Pidom assured Nigerians not to worry and stated that he would reveal those documents. He also mentioned that he was awaiting another independent source to confirm the documents authenticity before sharing with the public.
The post declaring his missing status has attracted reactions from Nigerians on social media who tackled the government for their alleged involvement in the disappearance of Pidom.
Many questioned why some kidnapped victims are yet to be found but authorities are going after innocent citizens.
Here are some reactions,
@Kollerkunzultz: They can find PIDOM but our medical students have been kidnapped for days now, and still can't be tracked and rescued
@SuoazOfficial: The question is what are Nigerians going to do about it?
PIDOM cannot end up like Dadiyata
@princechioke: What a read! I just hope he’s still alive. Thankfully
@DavidHundeyin is always ahead of the game. Stay safe dude as you and @fisayosoyombo are the last voices standing…
@KelzTbg: I can't sleep knowing that someone sacrifices his existence to give us information. Government claim they can't trace bandits but can traces faceless account. God I am tired of this country.
@Chimacoeche: So they can track PIDOM but can't track Bandits, killer herdsmen, kidnappers and Terrorists?
Why waste all the resources on innocent citizens when they can use them to end insecurity?
