A video has surfaced showing Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, criticising the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their decision to continue the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

During the 2022 presidential campaign, President Bola Tinubu revealed plans to continue the good works of the Buhari-led government if elected.

Wike, a presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed disapproval of Buhari’s achievements. He described Buhari’s “good work” as terrible.

He stated that the only message from Buhari’s former government was “people dying every day, the naira falling, hunger, poverty, insecurity,” among many other crises.

Wike said, “It is most unfortunate when I hear people under APC declaring they want to continue the good job of President—the good job of people dying every day, the good job of the naira falling every day.

“I feel so ashamed that we have reached the level of sycophancy where people say they want to continue the good work of Buhari. What is the good work of Buhari—hunger, poverty, insecurity, and an economy in decline?

“I can’t believe that someone would come out today and say they want to continue where Buhari left off. May God never allow that evil to continue.”

Meanwhile, Wike, who was appointed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory by President Bola Tinubu, has been appealing to Nigerians to exercise patience with the ruling government, stating that the president needs more time to restore the country’s fortunes.

The video resurfaced following a ten-day nationwide protest against the economic hardships facing citizens. The protest began on Thursday, August 1 and while the outcome was positive, some states experienced violence and bloodshed.

Reports indicate that over 11 people were killed during the protests, along with looting of properties.
