The heated clash between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Ismaila Mustapha, also known as Mompha, appears to be escalating rapidly as the socialite has labeled the commission as "useless and jobless," and are wasting taxpayers' money.

Mompha's criticisms of the anti-corruption agency come in response to the EFCC's request for him to provide evidence to support his allegations against them.

Currently facing trial on eight charges related to money laundering, retention of criminal proceeds, and other unlawful activities, Mompha took to his Instagram page to describe the EFCC as the “most corrupt agency” in the country.

In a post, he wrote, "The most useless and corrupt Nigeria Government Agency @officialefcc.”

In response to Mompha's comments, the EFCC's spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, stated that the commission has invited Mompha to present evidence of corruption by any of its staff.

The statement read in part, "The EFCC has been made aware of the baseless claims made by Ismaila Mustapha, also known as Mompha, accusing the commission's operatives of corruption.

In light of this, the EFCC's Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has instructed Mompha to provide concrete evidence of any corruption allegations against EFCC staff. Additionally, Mompha must substantiate his claim that the EFCC is a 'useless agency' with factual proof."

Responding to the EFCC's request, Mompha expressed disbelief that the organization would engage in social media arguments with him.

In a post, he stated, "I am once again drawn to the EFCC's social media response demanding that I prove corruption allegations against them. The fact that the commission, especially its chairman, would stoop so low as to respond to my post clearly demonstrates how ineffective and idle the EFCC is, wasting taxpayers' money on social media banter."

"I will not focus on the fabricated charges brought against me by some corrupt officials for personal gain and the media trial, as the truth speaks for itself. Instead, I will highlight the inefficiency of this commission under its current leadership."
