The Nigerian Senate passed the North Central Development Commission (NWDC) bill on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

According to reports, the bill was passed after the upper chamber considered the report of its committee on special duties, presented by its chairman, Senator Kaka Shehu.

It was gathered that the bill was sponsored by the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District in the Senate.

The Senate has called on the Federal Government to extend the Renewed Hope Road infrastructure projects to the northeast.

The Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Abba Moro, was said to have sponsored the bill and was co-sponsored by all the senators from the north-central region.

The bill passed its First Reading on October 5, 2023, and its Second Reading on February 21, 2024.
