France and Portugal became the latest teams to book their place in the last eight of the ongoing European Championship in Germany.

At the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf, two-time World champions France beat Belgium 1-0 courtesy of an own goal from Jan Vertonghen.

Portugal, in the other fixture, edged Slovenia 3-0 in the shootouts after the game ended in a deadlock after extra time at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt.

Portugal and France joined the likes of Germany, Spain, England, and Switzerland, who have already secured their place in the quarterfinals.

In Tuesday's fixtures, the Netherlands will take on Romania at the Allianz Arena in Munich, as Austria locks horns with Turkey at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.
