A video circulating on social media shows slices of yam being sold in the market.

This is due to the hardship facing citizens across the country.

In the viral video, a man asks the seller why he decided to cut the yam into pieces instead of selling it whole.

The yam seller explains that people rarely buy whole yams anymore which is why he chose to sell them in smaller portions for N500 per slice.

The video has sparked significant reactions, with many expressing frustration over the high cost of food and their inability to afford a whole yam or basic ingredients.

Recently, some women have shared their decision to switch from using tomatoes to buying carrots to make stew.

In response to the recent increase in food prices, Nigerians have taken to social media to share their thoughts.

Below are some reactions

@fueksy: I bought one tuber of yam for 7k today. I have bought tape rule to measure each slice cut

@Timmynaijaa: Go out and protest against the government, they don't care if you are dying. They don't care because prayer will not change anything.

veevogee: This is not funny and anymore it’s our silence for me.
We are all comfortable with whatever they throw at us.

vktechltd: This is what happens when herdsmen and bandits don’t allow farmers to go to farm anymore.

nohpheesat: This thing scares me so much. I don't know what will become of alot of us if this hunger persists
