In a resolute response to the recent abduction at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC), the Kogi State government has vowed to ensure the safe return of all kidnapped students.

The incident occurred on Thursday night when armed individuals invaded the campus, abducting several students engaged in pre-exam studies and leaving behind only their personal effects.

An eyewitness recounted the harrowing event, describing the assailants' entry into the university located in Osara, Okene at approximately 9 p.m.

Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, has confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway. He further stated that the state has mobilized a robust security response, including local hunters familiar with the region, to pursue the kidnappers. The government remains firm in its stance against negotiating with terrorists.

Governor Ahmed Ododo has taken decisive action, initiating the state's security protocols to locate the kidnappers and secure the students' release. A significant force of local hunters, alongside standard security personnel, is actively searching the area where the students were taken from their classrooms.

To date, reports indicate that nine students are missing.

The government reassures students, parents, and all Kogi State residents that every measure is being taken to resolve the crisis swiftly and safely.

In addition to the ongoing rescue efforts, Governor Ododo has ordered the deployment of security forces to safeguard all higher education institutions within the state.
