President Bola Tinubu joined several heads of state to witness the inauguration ceremony of Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in Diamniadio.

44-year-old Bassirou, is reported to be the youngest President in history.

Senegal’s opposition leader succeeds outgoing President Macky Sall to become the country's 5th president after polling 54% of the votes in the March 24 presidential election.

Bassirou rose from being in prison to becoming president in just weeks.

In a video making rounds, Tinubu was seen exchanging pleasantries with the new leader.

Tinubu posed for a photograph as he shook his hand and congratulated the newly elected Senegalese President.
