Social media is currently buzzing following the arrest of Dr.Abdul Mahmud by the Nigerian police.
The human rights activist claims that on Sunday, June 25, in Karu, Abuja, he was arrested for reportedly protecting a citizen from Assistant Commissioner of Police, Zara Mohammed, who was intimidating the victim.
Mr Mahmud, in a tweet on Tuesday, said Inspector of Police, Sola Olalekan, led a police team to arrest him from his home and he was being taken to Abacha Road Police Station in Mararaba.
Following this incident, some Nigerians have appealed for Abdul Mahmud's release on social media, claiming that he did nothing wrong.
