The Police Force has released a video to inform the country of their love for Nigerians.
Over the years the Nigerian Police Force and the citizens have been met with disagreement over the constant assault on civilians.
Several Nigerians have raised concerns about the way police officers brutalise the youth especially.
In 2020, police bruality brought about the protest at the Lekki Tollgate, with citizens calling for the end to SARS, however, this was met with bloodshed as several people got killed when the military arrived and began shooting at the protesters.
Recently, singer, Seun Kuti was videoed slapping and pushing a policeman on the Third Mainland bridge. This brought about mixed reactions from Nigerians. He has since been arrested by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba.
The video shared on Instagram by its Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, contained images of police officers in uniform.
The caption in the video states that the police love the citizens of Nigeria and appeals to them to reciprocate the love they show them.
It also said that its job is to protect the people and not to harm them. However, it is pleading with Nigerians to desist killing police officers.
Adding that there cannot be a country without police officers as there is a need to join hands and Nigeria a better place.
"Our job is to protect you and not to harm you, We love all Nigerians, please reciprocate our love for you. You run away from troubles but we run to you when in trouble. Stop killing your brothers and sisters just because they are police officers. No nation without police, Nigeria can't be an exemption. Lets join hands to make our Nigeria a better place."
Reacting to the video, some social media users questioned the police force where was their love during the election.
Some claim the bad nuts in the police force continue to harm civilians.
Where was this love during elections ? Where was this same love when McOluomo threatened Igbos not to vote on National Television….. Where was this love hiding as Lagos thugs killed innocent men and women because of election? Just Dey play…

How I wish the NPF is living true to the its objectives of serving Nigerians and tackling crimes. A lot of people will be proud of you guys. No doubt we have awesome officers but to a large extent, Nigerians will rather prefer a better Police than what we have at the momment

Police should Love Nigerians ????????first sir!!! Army and Navy don't get this level of criticism simply because they are way more professional in their dealings than the police. No one respects folks that waylay people to forcefully take money from them on the road.

Good video but your officers need reorientation on how to better serve the public, been civil and professional in discharging their duties. Invest more in human capital development, training, seminars and workshops. Thanks
