Netizens have warned Nigerian politicians to avoid Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni if they did not do well while in office.

This warning comes following an interview held on Tuesday, May 16, where Yari was present on the media station to talk about his race to become the 10th Senate President in the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

During the interview, Rufai Oseni asked why he should be Senate President when he failed to reduce poverty in his state whilst living a flamboyant lifestyle.

Rufai quizzed;

“You want to be senate president but you were governor of Zamfara state that is still part of the poorest states in this country. 92% poverty, that is the number coming out of Zamfara state, one of the highest as regards to people impoverish in the country. Very little minimal development. But you are a man that lives a lot of affluence and wealth. Even recently at a book launch, you gave 250 or close to 300 million naira to somebody at a book launch. A lot of people are saying why didn’t you spend a lot of efforts in fixing your state and improving the poverty prospect when you were there and what qualifies you now to want to be the senate president.”

In his response, Senator Yari who was puzzled by Rufai’s line of question, asked what does his question have to do with the senate president.

However, Rufai replied saying it is his record as a former governor he is putting before him.

Yari said, he is was not the first governor of Zamfara state and that he did his best while he was the governor of the state and the issue of poverty is all over the northern part of the country.

“Before me how many governors governed Zamfara state, Am I the first governor of Zamfara state,” Yari said.

The interview has since gone viral with several Nigerians on social media applauding journalist, Rufai Oseni for not being lenient with the Senator.

Abdul-Aziz Yari can never forgive Rufai after the interview on Arise TV, but honestly, most of our politicians need to understand something, you can't fail as a Governor and want to have the Senate House as your retirement scheme.
