Arise TV host, Dr. Reuben Abati has joked that Daniel Bwala, spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign council wanted Nigerians to notice his newly acquired Land Cruiser hence the reason another lawyer opened the door for him on his arrival at the presidential election petition tribunal court on Monday, May 9.
Recall that Bwala who is also a member of the legal team of the largest opposition party was called out on social media after a video of a lawyer opening the back door of his car emerged.
He captioned the video: "He captioned the video: "We are here, the D day. Officially commenced today. We pray for a peaceful and professional presidential election proceedings"
Following the emergence of the video, some users on the microblogging platform, Twitter accused him of breaking Rule 26 of the Rules of Professional Conduct in the legal profession which states that; "Lawyer shall treat one another with respect".
Rufai Oseni, a co-host on Arise TV's morning show defended Bwala, noting that the lawyer in question was an inlaw. He stated that he had spoken to Bwala after the incident happened.
"I called Daniel this morning and this was his side of the story. He said as the case started they have been going back and forth politically with the opposition and he deliberately posted to say, okay the D-day has come before the case."
"But he said the person that the door for him was his in-law and his relative of his. The person was a lawyer too but was a relative too."
Dr Abati in his own reaction said: "Daniel Buwala just wants to know that he is a big boy. If you look at that car you’ll know that it is tear rubber.
"They haven’t not even some of you know…..so by posting it on Twitter, he is saying come and look t me o Toyota Land Cruiser"

Do you have a problem with your right hand? Why did you wait for another lawyer to open the car door for you?

@BwalaDaniel who was only called the Bar in 2008 deploys a learned colleague to open the door of his car. What an act unbecoming of a supposed moralist.

One more thing. Was attendance in court for photo-ops? No wig and gown? No books. Nothing.
