Social media users on the micro-blogging platform, Twitter have made it a norm to call out their respective banks in the comment section of popular and trendy posts on issues they need resolving.
This trend has grown over the years as customers of some of Nigeria's biggest banks see this as the quickest avenue to get immediate results.
While there is no full proof of it being successful, some users have recounted how this medium was the easiest and best way to get things solved.
It was again demonstrated in the comment section of a tweet by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 presidential elections.
While the former Anambra governor was on the campaign trail ahead of the February 25 presidential elections, he called on his supporters to donate towards his campaign.
The tweet of Oct 7, 2022 reads: "I invite every member of the OBIdient Family, and every supporter of our march to a new Nigeria to visit the official campaign website for the Obi-Datti Campaign organisation. You can use that medium to support and donate in cash & kind to the campaign http://obidatticampaign.com"-PO
The pinned tweet garnered 23,000 retweets.
MyNigeria noticed in the comment section that Nigerians believed in the reach of Peter Obi's tweets to call out their banks for various banking flaws.
The banks were First Bank, Access Bank and United Bank for Africa (UBA).
I invite every member of the OBIdient Family, and every supporter of our march to a new Nigeria to visit the official campaign website for the Obi-Datti Campaign organisation. You can use that medium to support and donate in cash & kind to the campaign https://t.co/4VvXWMJA7F -PO
