Whatsapp, the popular instant communication application owned by Meta is reported to be offline with millions of Nigerians on social media currently unable to send and receive messages.
While MyNigeria cannot confirm the issue as widely reported, the outage is affecting both personal and group chats.
It currently seems impossible to send a message on WhatsApp groups, but personal chats also seem to be largely affected.
Outage detection website DownDetector confirms that WhatsApp is not working for thousands of users.
The report shared by the website said the app went down shortly before noon, with #WhatsApp trending on Twitter in Pakistan with 13,000 users talking about the outage.
Users reported being unable to send messages, with the app showing “connecting”.
WhatsApp is yet to share an official statement on the same, but we should have more information soon enough. Stay tuned for more updates.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react
