Webometrics, a ranking system for the world's universities has released the July 2021 edition of its ranking of the universities and other higher education institutions across the world.
University of Ibadan, Covenant University, and Obafemi Awolowo University lead the top three spots of the best universities in Nigeria.
Covenant University is the only privately owned university amongst the top three as
UI and OAU, are federal universities.
The University of Nigeria (UNN) and the University of Lagos (UNILAH) emerged fourth and fifth in Nigeria respectively.
The list is aimed at promoting academic excellence and support the Open Access initiatives.
