Charles Komi Kudzordzi, the leader and founder of Western Togoland, a popular secessionist group in Ghana has been arrested, local online platform, 3news reports.
The 80-year-old was arrested in Ho, the Volta Regional capital by a team of National Intelligence Bureau and National Security officials on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, after gathering intelligence.
The Octogenarian, who has been declared wanted by the police after organizing a retreat declaring independence in Ho has been on the run ever since.
His actions led to his arrest and that of 8 others in May 2019.
The charges were later dropped by the state but a Ho District Court ordered for the arrest of the 80-year-old secessionist leader and two others on November 20, 2019, after they declared parts of the Volta Region a sovereign state, according to 3news.
