The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has informed Nigerians that any National Identity Number (NIN) generated through the Bank Verification Number (BVN) must still undergo registration at NIMC enrollment centre.
The agency disclosed on Twitter on Monday, January 11, that NIN generated by BVN can only be valid after it has been updated at an enrollment centre.
Legit.ng reported that in a post on its Twitter handle, NIMC dissociated itself from the app, saying it is run by fraudsters who use it to harvest people’s NIN and BVN.
The commission advised people to protect their data and stop disclosing personal information to unauthorised persons or platforms.
