Atiku has said he is proud of the work ex-President Obasanjo and himself did between 1999 and 2007
The former vice president said Nigeria paid off her entire foreign debt while maintaining an unprecedented 6% annual GDP growth during the period
Atiku's words appear to be a response to President Buhari's statement blaming his predecessors for Nigeria's woes
Nigeria's former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has boasted about the achievements recorded by the ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo-led administration.
Obasanjo and Atiku served as Nigeria's president and vice president respectively between 1999 and 2007.
In a tweet posted via his official Twitter handle, @atiku, on Friday, October 2, Atiku said their administration cleared off Nigeria's entire foreign debt and recorded 6% annual GDP growth.
He tweeted:
"Between 1999 and 2007, Nigeria paid off her entire foreign debt while maintaining an unprecedented 6% annual GDP growth. Those were periods of national restoration, and I am very proud of the work President Obasanjo and I did for this nation we care so much for. Facts don't lie."Though the vice-president did not mention President Muhammadu Buhari, his tweet appears to be a response to the president's statement blaming his predecessors, Obasanjo, Umar Yar’Adua, and Goodluck Jonathan for ‘near destruction of Nigeria’.
