Britain has congratulated Prof. Ibrahim Gambari on his appointment as the new Chief Of Staff to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd).

In a statement on Wednesday the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, on her official Twitter page, expressed delight at Gambari's appointment.

Gambari who was appointed on a Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council meeting succeeds the late Abba kyari who died as a result of COVID-19 complications on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

“Delighted to hear that @MBuhari has appointed the hugely experienced diplomat Professor, Ibrahim Gambari as his new COS.

“@UKinNigeria looks forward to working closely with you on our shared agenda in the challenging COVID?19 times. Congratulations,” she tweeted.
