The World Health Organization, WHO, has cited Nigeria as a country effectively fighting COVID-19 also known as coronavirus.
Michael Ryan, head of the WHO Emergencies Programme, gave the credit to Nigeria while speaking at a press conference in Geneva.
According to Ryan, Nigeria provided a 100-bed isolation unit within 48-hours of confirming the virus which was brought into the country by an Italian man.
Meanwhile, MyNigeria.com reported that former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has asked the Federal Government to take the battle against coronavirus a notch higher by restricting flights from nations with a high prevalence of the Coronavirus plague.
According to the Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, temporarily suspending flights to and from affected countries is not only in line with global best practices but it builds up the country's ability to contain the deadly virus.
