After 179 days of detention, Publisher of Cross River Watch, Agba Jalingo, was released from detention after perfecting his bail condition on Monday.
Jalingo was unlawfully imprisoned on the orders of Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, after he raised questions on the whereabouts of N500m meant for the establishment of Cross River Microfinance Bank.
The news of his release was welcomed with so much joy as Nigerians reacted to the news of his freedom.
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar said, "the news about the release of Mr Agba Jalingo is heartwarming. We will hope that political leaders get the message that press freedom is an integral component of a democratic."

Agba is in high spirits, Sowore says
I have just spoken with Agba Jalingo in Calabar, he is finally out of unjust incarceration after fulfilling the burdensome bail conditions imposed on him last week by a Federal High Court judge. Agba is in high spirits! Thanks to all our conscientious citizens who stood firm.
