Mukaila Subukola, the father of the schoolgirl, Mariam, who was hit by a stray bullet at Iyana Ipaja during the clash between the police and Okada and Keke Marwa riders, has shared the present health predicament of his daughter.
Speaking with mynigeria.com, Subukola revealed that the bullet went in through Mariam’s buttock and ended up in her stomach.
mynigeria.com gathered that she had gone out with a teacher from her school and that there had been no crisis in Aboru as of the time they left the school, however, on their way back, the scene had gone haywire.
According to Mariam's father, he has spent nothing less than N800,000 on surgeries for his daughter nonetheless, she was in pain as she is set to undergo more surgeries.
"When she opened her eyes after the surgery, she said Daddy please help me and that was all she said," her father recounted.
He also revealed that the police from Ile-Epo Oke Odo came with the sum of N20,000 which he rejected.
He called on Nigerians to help him with Mariam’s medical bill. He said, “All I’m concerned about is the wellbeing of my daughter. I have been asked if there is no one who can help us. It (Mariam’s medical bill) is not something that I can handle by myself.”
Also reacting to the matter was the CDA Chairman, Ayedaade Aboru, Gbolabo Orefuyi who expressed worries over the surgeries still to come.
He noted that the stray bullet affected Mariam's large intestine and the only way she can stool was through the large intestine and not the anus.
The other damages have been occurring in her will cost two to three surgeries," he said, worried that he didn't know how much it would cost.
Both father and the Chairman solicited for help.
"She has not eaten in eight days and even the womb is damaged and sown by iron. She can't talk and is managing. We need the assistance of the Governor, and the entire populace, please come to our aid," they begged.
