Amnesty International, a human rights organisation, has accused the Nigerian military of war crimes.

The group claimed that the military rendered thousands of Nigerians in the north-eastern part of the country homeless by intentionally burning down entire villages while trying to force out the Boko Haram terrorists.

With the aid of satellite images posted on social media, Amnesty International said that almost every structure was burnt in at least three villages in Borno State and called for an investigation into possible war crimes

Witness accounts, according to the BBC , revealed that the military forced people on to trucks and took them to displacement camps before the villages were torched.

The military, according to the BBC , has repeatedly denied accusations that soldiers have carried out human rights abuses during the more than decade long conflict against Boko Haram.
