A new Ministry of Transportation has been created by the Ogun State Government which also elevated 75 minor chiefs to Coronet Obas.
This was disclosed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the State governor, Dapo Abiodun, who revealed that the decision was made "at the Executive Council Meeting held yesterday at the Council Chambers, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta".
The statement continued: "The Council adopted the recommendation of the Oba Olugbenle-led Chieftaincy Review Committee that the elevation defied due process, while also recognising the need for an independent Ministry to oversee the State's transport systems.
"The Council also renamed the Ministries of Commerce & Industry & of Urban & Physical Planning, to the Ministries of Industry, Trade & Investments and of Physical Planning and Urban Development respectively.
"At the Meeting, we also created three agencies under the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, to handle planning and development, production management, and slum regeneration".
