Bashir Ahmad, a presidential aide on New Media, has denied claims that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), once paid a visit to Ibrahim El-zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN.
This was after an online publication shared pictures showing Buhari and El-zakzaky shaking hands, and another one showing Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State bowing to greet El-zakzaky.
According to the online publication, the pictures are from the periods Buhari and El-Rufai paid the IMN leader a visit when they needed the votes of his Shi'ites people.
Debunking the claim, Bashir Ahmad tweeted: "To set the record straight; Pres. @MBuhari has never, in all his 5 time campaigns for the Presidency (2003, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019), visited Ibrahim Zakzaky to seek his and followers votes, the picture was at a public event in 2009. Gov. @elrufai’s was a condolence visit in 2014".
